What I Got the Man for Christmas

December 25, 2010

The man had a pretty hard time this year, what with his mother dying and some other things plus shouldering new responsibilities, and to top it all off, he had to work on Christmas! He said he didn’t mind that so much, because he has the peace of Christmas in his heart, and he helps take care of sick people, and they don’t get the day off. I thought it was gyppy, but he went anyway! So I asked the lady, and she took me to see him at work for a surprise! She gave him a present, and he was all “Oh a present! Oh I wonder what it could be?” I almost blasted out some laughing from inside the bag, but I put my hand over my mouth.

I am hiding in the bag, but he doesn't know it!

Then he found me and he was overwhelmed to see me, a monkey, in a hospital cafeteria!

I really tricked him good!

But that wasn’t really the whole present, I had something for him, and I gave him a card with a clue on it.

The card gives a hint.

Here’s what it said:

I wrote this myself.

In case you can’t read it, the hint says “only you can start a forest fire.” Ha ha ! That is so funny! Because it is the opposite of what Smokey Bear says. And also, the man would never start a forest fire! He hates forest fires! So it is a hint! Can you guess what it was?

I gave the gift of matches.

See, even though he would never start a forest fire, he does like little fires, and he likes to fire things up. So a big box of matches was just perfect, because he wouldn’t guess it and because he can just flick a match any time he wants, and start a little matchstick fire, or light a candle, or relight the pilot light on the furnace, or burn up something in a safe manner, if he wished.

He really really liked my gift.

I love the man.

But that wasn’t even the whole gift. My surprise visit, and the really funny hint card, and the wonderful box of so many matches, all were parts of what I got him for Christmas.

What I got him was all turned into this. This blog post!!! He lets me use his computer to blog, and I am so grateful. He is my very best friend, even with all the monkeys to compare with.

See? Season's Greetings!

Merry Christmas!!! I greet you!

See what I mean?

I’m not making this up. I don’t know how they get here.

So Many. Who are they for?

There is a Christmas tree this year!!! Last year it was so lame, there wasn’t even a tree  here.  Well, I mean, I did really enjoy the manger, and hanging out in it.

Remember this? It was so peaceful.

But this year there is a tree! This year it is not lame! The monkeys and other stuffed folk and I are so excited, we are having a party crowd under and around the tree.

Beauty is everywhere.

It started out there were no presents, but every day more and more presents show up! I don’t even know how they get there! I didn’t see Saint or the man or the lady or anybody. But maybe I was distracted by all the ornaments. I love them.

Now I am waiting in silence, and watching carefully for Saint Nick to come. Saint. We just call him Saint.

I will try to see Saint.
